Canadian journalism students invited to apply for over $20,000 from six sponsors

TORONTO, ON – RTDNF Canada has the privilege of offering financial assistance to emerging journalists. The foundation is accepting entries from Canadian journalism students for six different awards.
“Thank you to our generous sponsors who believe in the future of journalism by supporting students. Journalism matters and it’s important to recognize and encourage credible and creative storytelling,” said Gina Lorentz, president of RTDNF Canada.
Canadian journalism students are invited to apply at no cost for the following scholarships and a $10,000 fellowship.
BNN/Jim O’Connell Scholarship awarded for the best business story
CBC Barbara Frum Scholarship award for the best interview
JJ Richards Scholarship for a radio documentary or podcast
Friends of Canadian Media Scholarship for a news story focused on Canadian current affairs.
CBC David Suzuki Scholarship for a student from a racialized community with a demonstrated interest in science journalism.
Sachedina/CTV News Fellowship to produce a substantial and original piece of journalism significant to Canada and Canadians.

The Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) is committed to promoting excellence in journalism through its student scholarship program. Founded in 1978, the foundation aims to advance, encourage, and enhance the study and production of broadcast and digital journalism. RTDNF offers support, guidance, and financial assistance to emerging journalists as they build their careers in multiplatform storytelling.
