RTDNA Canada congratulates Lis Travers as a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Central Region

Toronto, ON – (May 18, 2021) RTDNA Canada is pleased to recognize Lis Travers who has distinguished herself through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of her career in journalism and news broadcasting.

RTDNA President Fiona Conway said, “Anyone who has been fortunate to work with Lis knows she is a mentor, friend, and guiding hand in the newsroom. She brings positivity to any problem presented and is such a positive force. We should all be so lucky to have a Lis in our spheres.  I am so happy for her to receive this recognition. Congratulations Lis!”

Lis has had a spectacular career. She has done it all – working at CBC, Global and CTV. She has done local news, national news, morning television, current affairs, digital news, and 24-hour news. She has done start-ups like Global Quebec and Pop Life and managed Canadian institutions like Canada AM.

Lis has been a lifelong storyteller and she has been a mentor. As a boss she has hired, trained, advised, and coached interns, reporters, producers, editors, camera people, and talent all over the country. She is revered by all of those who had the pleasure of working with or for her.

Lis has been an active supporter of RTDNA and dedicated many hours to conferences, calls, fundraising and scholarships.
