Richard Dooley has a passion for news. Over a career that spanned more than 35 years, he worked as a journalist, editor, and newsroom leader through some of the biggest stories of the last several years, including: the crash of Swissair 111, the COVID-19 pandemic, the NS Mass Shootings, along with several hurricanes, floods and natural disasters.

As a leader with Global News, he led our team through these breaking stories with a calm and measured approach, never forgetting to check on individual reporters on how they were doing. He loved working with young journalists, helping them become established in their careers. He continues to celebrate their achievements as they move into progressively senior roles. Richard retired in 2023 as our Supervising Producer.
