Though Jayson began his journalism career with A Channel in Ontario and then Alberta, he is best known for his more than 25 years with ATV/CTV Atlantic.

He first joined then-ATV as a sports and news reporter before moving to a co-hosting role on Breakfast Television. His keen improvisational skills and broadly appealing sense of humour made him an instant success in the popular morning show.

Jayson moved back into the news reporting and anchoring after several years and then, in 2014, became co-host of long-running CTV News at 5.

He has co-hosted multiple programs that have won RTDNA awards. He also won an RTDNA award for In Depth/Investigative Reporting in 2008 for his journalism on climate change.

He has volunteered countless hours in the community over the years, including work for the IWK, Christmas Daddies and the Ride for Cancer.

Jayson’s successful career in broadcast journalism spanned nearly 30 years. He decided to leave broadcasting in 2024.
